"Recording isn't just for kids"
Parents wishing to fill their kids' lives with music - without OD-ing on the saccharine fare of Barney and his friends - need look no further than Essex County composer and recording artist Rebecca Frezza.
Frezza's recent CD release, "Music In My Heart", is an absolute delight for both kids and parents alike, filled with bouncy, infectious tunes that withstand the repeated playings children love. The songs only become more endearing with multiple listenings, and never grate on the nerves of parents. Combining somewhat sophisticated musical motifs with simplistic sentiments, Frezza has created an album that crosses generation gaps.
From the straightforward light rock/pop on the title track to the Latin rhythms of "Castillo de Arena", from the doo-wop of "Monster In My Room" to the touches of Jazz here and there, Frezza, herself a teacher of music to children, has put together a collection that not only entertains, but serves to broaden the young listener's musical vocabulary and tastes. Simply put, this is adult music that's written and performed in such a way as to be immediately and completely accessible to children. The liner notes on the CD say, "With these tunes, you'll be singin', dancin' and rockin' right alongside your kids." I couldn't put it more succinctly.

Music In My Heart offers excellence in contemporary pop style with rhythmic drive and Country/Folk elements too. Adult vocals and kids chorus sing original tunes, which are nice for sing-alongs. From lyrical to imaginary to expressive to innovative and reflective - a great panorama of musical sounds.

Fair-haired singer-songwriter Rebecca Frezza creates feel-good songs for kids and their parents with inspired fervor and groovin' rhymes on her debut, Music in My Heart. The title track sets the upbeat album in motion with a joyous, guitar-driven homage to the power of music: "It's a vibration / all across the nation / making a sensation / music in my heart." Frezza takes it down a notch with the folksy, harmony-filled "If I Were a Kite." Colorful lyrics tell the simple story of a kite flying free in the sky, a concept that will not be lost on parents -- and kids -- who've discovered that letting go is hard to do. The Spanish-guitar flavor of "Castillo de Arena" and the dreamy, percussive clatter of the djembe drums and rainsticks on "Clouds" highlight the range of styles featured on this colorful disc. And don't miss the upbeat, banjo-fueled flavor of "I Can, I Will, I'll Try," where perseverance in attempting to ride a two-wheeler bike will find many an understanding ear. Rebecca Frezza's talent lies in her fearless exploration of diverse musical styles and her dedication to making the everyday world of kids' lives burst into musical life through deceptively simple lyrics and a whole lotta heart.
